Mercury

Mercury symbolizes mental energy -- the mental, rational faculties, thinking and communicating. It reflects the exchange of ideas, communication, language, messaging, as well as learning and education. The Mercury card reveals what one’re thinking about right now as well as how best to think about it (whatever it is).

The Mercury card is like a mirror which one can utilize to help one clarify one's own mindset and think more clearly about one's own thinking. Likewise, The Mercury card reveals what it is one may be talking about right now. Negatively, Mercury can mean too much on one's mind and too much chatter.

So The Mercury card may reveal that, too, what it is that’s preoccupying one's mind and over-taking and over-heating one's thought-processes.

During the 52-Day Mercury cycle, itself, things may come and go quickly, things may flash into the brain and into one's life and just as quickly flash out of one's focus and out of one's life. During the Mercury planetary period, things can be fast, sudden, surprising and only last for a short duration.

So, the Mercury Card can reflect and symbolized that which might flash up suddenly and just as quickly, disappear. For the same reason, it can also reflect, the subject over which one's mind is spinning too fast such that one is spinning oneself into mental anguish.

Mercury symbolizes mental stimulation. What is stimulating one's mind right now? What are one learning? Here, too, The Mercury card reveals what one may be learning right now – the subject matter of the life education one is receiving.

In mythology, Mercury is the messenger of the Gods. So what messages are one receiving during this time? And what messages do one has to share? The Mercury card reveals this, too: the messages from Life one is receiving and the message one would like to share with others.

In the Life Cycle and in Yearly cycle, Mercury is the First Period and thus denotes how the mindset is shaped for the Life Cycle or in the Yearly Spread of Cards, how the mindset is shaped for the whole year.

So the Mercury Card reveals the contents and shaping of one's thinking for the whole year, negatively and positively. Positively, and if played well, it clarifies and validates the right mindset to hold this year.
