Mars

Mars symbolizes masculine energy, the active, assertive principle of life which is also referred to as the Yang energy of life, the fiery, dynamic, vital energy of life. Thus, one's Mars planetary Card symbolizes the way to take action and assert oneself right now, what is needed to do and how best to do it.

Mars symbolizes drive, determination, and initiative. So, The Mars card reveals that towards which it is best to focus one's drive and initiative right now as well as how to go about successfully achieving what it is one is driven to accomplish.

Mythologically, Mars is the “God of War.” It can symbolize war-like, aggressive behavior. And perhaps, right now, it’s important to “fight the good fight,” so to speak. The Mars card reveals what it is one may need to “fight” for right now.

Negatively, Mars can indicate a temptation to engage in unnecessary fights, debates, arguments, quarrels, or lawsuits. So, one Mars Card may reveal what it is one is tempted to fight or argue about.

This negative aspect of The Mars card may be more likely to arise if one has not played the Venus card well during the previous cycle, meaning: one did one chart one's course authentically according to one's true inner compass and thus one is out of alignment now and trying, during the Mars Period, to reassert one's way, to claw one's way back to a solid foundation for oneself.

The challenge, with The Mars card, is how to channel the dynamic energy of Mars constructively. The Mars card clarifies that which one needs to utilize in a constructive manner, else with ill-use or negative temptation, the same energy might turn against one and work against one.

Just so, The Mars card symbolizes that which is giving one energy right now and so that which one must learn to channel constructively.

At a deeper esoteric level, the planet Mars includes the meaning of the Number 4 which is a square and holds the meaning of structure, organization, and foundation. Thus, The Mars card shows how to structure one's efforts and one's work during this time to build the best possible foundation for one's success.

The Mars card thus also validates the results one may already know one wants to achieve. And yet, it also clarifies the way to achieve those goals.
