Clubs

1

Clubs correspond to the season of Summer, when life reaches its full bloom. The Club is actually a clover. And it represents the mind, the flower that grows on the soil of the heart.

2

People born to play a Club card as either their primary or secondary pattern are mentally based people. They are the students of life, always eager to learn. Their toolkit is language, concepts, categories, and communication. They put things into words and distill the ideas that shape our world.

3

Club-based people can, of course, get stuck in the machinations of their minds, locked inside mental abstractions, rationalizing their own existence. They may also get divorced from their feelings, operating instead with merely cold calculation in all that they do. And yet, these are the intelligent ones whose curiosity and ingenuity drive our philosophical and technological advancement as a species.

4

In the four elements, Clubs represent water. Indeed, our thinking can be like a babbling, gurgling fountain; meanwhile, the depths of our psyche may resemble the forbidding darkness at the bottom of the ocean. But it is the flow of our mental energy – like the flow of water – that creates channels and passageways upon the Earth. And with mindfulness, our mind can resemble the serene calm of a lake’s surface.
